2008-03-23 IndyBlogs: Minority Report: What does Thetford and Sikhism have in common

But what makes Jind Kaurs story really remarkable is that despite being separated from Duleep for 13 years, she managed to reignite Sikh nationalism in her English country gent of a son. Towards the end of his life, the "Black Prince" - as he was often called in Britain - grew increasingly bitter at the way his kingdom and people had been taken from him and began concoting notions of reconquering his homeland, even travelling to Moscow disguised as a Fenian to try to persuade the Tsar of Russia to join his hopeless cause. He died penniless and heartbroken in a Paris hotel room, his dream of regaining his kingdom shattered and his reputation in Britain ruined.

2008-03-17 Waterloo and Cedar Falls Iowa News Homepage News and raquo; Metro: Warmer weather brings concerns about flooding

Black Hawk Creek is only a few feet from Kings Country Kennels on Ranchero Road, when usually its a few hundred yards away. Owner Chanlie Widen said luckily all the horses, the pony, donkey and miniature bull were already on high ground in the feeding area instead of the now-flooded pasture when the water came up.

Rapid snow melt in town and on farmland it drains has pushed water levels to heights not seen in decades, according to one observer. Tom Wagner, a science teacher at Walnut Ridge Academy, ventured down Ranchero Road Saturday afternoon to catch a glimpse and see if any of the geocaches he hid in the now flooded Katoski Greenbelt are missing.

The museum and rsquo;s staff and board of trustees are raising money and working toward building a new museum on the Coos Bay waterfront. While the process isn and rsquo;t far enough along to say what type of shipbuilding displays might be included, President Jennifer Groth said the museum will have more gallery space devoted to the industry.
