That place is a fraud. Got AKC suspension for 10 years and $2000 fine. People suing her all over the place for pups with hip displasia. She won't prove that her dogs are really service dogs. The place is a mess, it stinks, dogs fight all the time, people are yelling at them. Everyone hopes she gets shut down and the dogs go to good homes.

However, Amy located an organization called 4 Paws For Ability on the Internet that provides service dogs for people with all sorts of ailments. The family truly believes that this could be the answer to some of those problems and give Jack the chance to be more of a kid and not have to be under such tight supervision all the time.

Because of the great need for service dogs, 4 Paws for Ability will only provide the dog if the money for it is raised through a fundraiser.

2008-11-09 Dog Wardens Concern Over Untrained Staff

All Dog Control Services should have procedures for dealing with difficult or out of control dogs, it will have carried out Risk Assessments and it will have also carried out Coshh assessments.

The high ranking officer will possibly never see a dog and will most certainly not be patrolling the streets of their council area promoting responsible dog ownership. That work falls on the actual Dog Warden, Dog Control Officer or Animal Welfare Officer, the job title is irrelevant but it is assumed and hoped that the officer is competently trained to handle dogs and is knowledgeable of dog legislation and animal welfare issues.

Rabies infections in animals nearing record high

Craig Levy, the Department of Health Services program manager for vector-borne diseases, said the rise has a lot to do with people being more diligent about turning over animals for testing and with neighborhoods being built closer to the wild.

Owners can protect dogs and cats by making sure they receive rabies vaccines and boosters. Dogs should be kept on a leash in the wilderness to prevent contact with wild animals.

The Arizona State Health Laboratory has confirmed rabies in 162 animals this year, and those animals exposed 38 people and 119 pets to rabies, the state Department of Health Services reported Friday.

2008-11-07 Grouse hunts: great vistas, challenges

Our hunting party was composed of my son Brent, his buddy Alton Owens and myself. We were following my pair of Brittany pointers, along with Altons English pointer. The day had gotten off to a good start. Only 45 minutes into the morning the dogs had struck a scent. Walking down an ancient and overgrown logging roadheaded for a man-made wildlife clearing, the Brittanies got very birdie. Noses raised to test the air, their stubby tails twitched vigorously with excitement. Moving cautiously, the dogs crept off the trail into a thicket of mountain laurel and Christmas ferns that surrounded a trickle of water oozing out of a springhead.

Salt Lake County Animal Services officer Zach Todd said he and another officer searched the area Monday afternoon but did not find poison or other animal carcasses. Officials plan to examine the dogs Wednesday to determine if there was poison in their bodies, Todd and Sakahara said.

The 4-year-old beagle-healer mix and 5-year-old chow mix died after taking a walk on Freedom Trail in the park in Salt Lake City. Their owner, Nancy Sakahara, and animal control staff suspect the small dogs may have eaten poison, though there is no evidence yet.

2008-11-02 Life saving dog awarded medal

Buster is one of three service dogs that HSUS honored with Dog of Valor awards. Three companion dogs were also honored. One dog, a German shepherd named Buffy, was selected from the six finalists as the grand prize winner posthumously, according to Bruce. Buffy took three bullets while defending her Oakland owner from a gunman and was later euthanized because of her injuries.

Six dogs throughout the nation were awarded medals and certificates in the HSUS inaugural award selection. Regional Program Coordinator Paul Bruce of the HSUS Sacramento office, who slipped Busters medal around his neck, said more than 80 dogs from all over the nation were nominated for heroic deeds done in 2007.
