My husband and I have always adopted our furry children (cats and dogs) from local humane shelters. We encourage others to do the same. And if someone wants a purebred dog, all they have to do is find the appropriate animal rescue shelters for that specific breed. So many sweet. absolutely adorable animals need to find homes from the "orphanages" in our country -- NOT from puppy mills and pet shops/stores.
