Indian Hills Junior High students learned about future careers April 2, during Career Day. Students attended four half-hour information sessions during which professionals from about 15 different career fields described the ins and outs of their jobs. Presenters included bankers, artists, city mayors, and retired executives. In addition to asking questions and snagging freebies, students explored the ambulance that was brought to school by the Mercy Medical presenters. Many speakers were parents of current Indian Hills students. "I learned a lot about individual careers," said Zach VanDenBosch, 13, of West Des Moines. The 4-H Club is in the process of starting a library for Mother Theresas orphanage in Kigali, Rwanda. The club has decided to collect the books that teachers and the library are cleaning out and send them to the orphanage. The club would appreciate any donations of books that are no longer in use to help with this project.
