I must take exception to your comment recently describing the prong collar as a less than humane way of controlling a dog, and a medieval torture device. I have bred and raised dogs for over 20 years, and currently own a very successful animal care business that includes training for problem pets. Properly used, a prong collar is a very effective and humane method of establishing control and sometimes its the only method effective for large to extra-large dogs. In my experience, comments spouted off-hand by so-called experts lead to the perpetuation of myths and heresy as to the effectiveness and humanity of such collars. . . .
