Having read the article a few times it does seem to be an attack by a dog allowed to roam unattended, as the victim states that:- "I dont know where the dog came from. "All I saw was two old men chatting to a lady with a small dog. "This other chocolate brown dog was a lot bigger, probably the size of a Labrador, but Im not sure if it belonged to any of them. She then is reported to have said:- "When I confronted the lady with the dog she turned away and said my dog wouldnt do that to anyone. If this was the lady with the small dog then it has no relevance to the story, however it might have been neighbourly to have enquired about the victims health at least. The real issue here is again a minority of dog owners failing to take full responsibility for their animals. www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk

If he was sent into the backyard by the owner, that is the owners fault. Most dogs are very protective of their property and will bite. And, though I say this every time it happens and no one ever listens-- again, a dog that is chained and/or intact is more likely to attack that one that is not. Should anything be done about the dog Well, maybe go to an owner that knows something about dogs, but thats it. In case no one else has noticed, everyone nowadays is trying to give human qualities to animals. Dogs do NOT know the difference between right and wrong, just what instinct tells them. Instinct says- theres an intruder in my territory, what does a dog do There are usually warning signs that, if most people knew what they were, would prevent 99 pct. of attacks (in my opinion); the next step, if those signs to retreat www.whsv.com
Just before we got married, Kiva had knee surgery and retired. She still lives with us, but Carl has a new guide dog, a Black Labrador Retriever named Kinley. Retirement was hard at first, for all of us. On his way out the door to work, Carl would pick up the leash and harness and Kiva would run to him. "Im sorry," Id hear Carl whisper to Kiva from the other room and Id wipe the tears from my own eyes. We got through it and Kiva likes her new "brother" Kinley and she loves her new dog walker. Kiva bounces up to greet us at the end of the day and Carl invariably says some form of the following: "How was my girl today I cant wait to go out for a walk with you. " That concern and desire seems a perfect thing for us all to aim for and Im glad the other woman taught me how www.here-now.org

Tried, convicted and sentenced to death on circumstantial evidence. No jury in this country would sentence anyone to death based upon the evidence presented before them, but the Board of Selectmen in Rowley did. This was the judgment of the selectmen in the case against Niko, a black Labrador retriever (Labs are gentle by nature, not known to be aggressive) accused of killing a neighbors family pet goat. Sound familiar The owner of the Arrowhead farm in Newburyport shot a puppy for killing his farm animal and it was ruled justified by the police. There were two dogs, yet the owner shot first and then called the police. www.newburyportnews.com

IT IS NOT A MATTER OF WAKING UP OR RESPECT FOR DOGS ETC. BUT ONE HAS TO LOOK AT THE WHOLE SCENARIO. WHEREAS MS LIMA IS RIGHT TO EXPECT HER DOG WITH HER ON BOARD, WHAT ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE AIRCRAFT AND PASSENGERS ON BOARD WITH A PRESSURISED CABIN AT 38,000 FT A DOG CAN REACT BADLY FOR VARIOUS REASONS AND HE CAN BITE PASSENGERS AND WORST OF ALL CREATE PANIC ON BOARD. NO SYMPATHY MUST EVER COMPROMISE SAFETY AND I BELIEVE THAT MS LIMA SHOULD BE GIVEN INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION AND THE DOG GIVEN BACK TO HER UPON DISEMBARKING FROM THE AIRCRAFT. SHE DOESNT NEED HER DOG TO WALK TO THE TOILETS BUT A CREW MEMBER CAN ASSIST. WHERE WOULD THE DOG WAIT UNTIL SHE IS IN THE TOILET IT DOES NOT FIT IN THERE www.timesofmalta.com
Here and rsquo;s a personal example in measuring individual and rsquo;s character, a brief story. Years ago, early in my lending career, I had a potential customer who wanted to borrow money to do repairs to his home. Excited to get a new customer, I scheduled a meeting and went to the property the same afternoon. Everything looked good, although the home needed a lot of work. The owner met me at the drive as did his Labrador retriever. What followed, however, did not bode well for this potential borrower. In anticipation that his dog was going be a bother, the gentlemen scolded the dog, kicked him, then sent him to cower under the house. At that point, his and ldquo;character and rdquo; was well established and the following credit inquiry and employment references supported the same conclusion. The last two pairs of legs did not belong to two separate people, but to Candie: a four-legged friend of the pair she began her stroll with. Candie, a golden Labrador, is not a student at Valley College, at least not yet. She came to the campus with Mindy Romero of Guide Dogs of the Desert with one goal in mind: to meet the legally- blind man, David Lavaggi, and possibly become his pick as his new seeing-eye dog. www.lavalleystar.com

Thank you spring hill guy for your compassion. I currently have 4 dogs-the oldest being 14 years and youngest 3. 5 months which were all free as pups except 14 yr old, she was 7 when a friend gave her to me. It is sad to hear stories like this about SPCA. One of my prior dogs that is in doggie heaven was from SPCA in Pinellas (10. 5 yrs ago). At the time I wanted to adopt her they refused me a pet because my back yard wasnt fenced. I went back several weeks later she was still there and that wasnt even a question, I paid the fee and off I went. Does not makes sense that SPCA refuses a pet to someone who loves animals and wants to adopt so it makes room for one that absolutley needs shelter Ill keep getting my dogs free by the way seems they make the best kind of pet. I just hope the SPCA can do better than this. www2.hernandotoday.com
