ROME, N. Y. -- Mark and Mary Gerace couldnt believe their eyes. When Madison, their yellow lab, gave birth last week to four puppies, one of them was a little different than the others. One of FOACs latest success stories is Hobie, an eighteen-month-old lab with a severe eye condition called entropion, which required surgery. He had a lifetime of pain and suffering from this condition, and FOAC sponsored his surgery, which was performed successfully by veterinarian Mitch Luce of Twain Harte vet clinic. Hobie is now pain free for the first time in his life, thanks to the Charley Fund. This fund for the animals was unfortunately just depleted in the effort to save nine lab/Newfoundland puppies. These adorable puppies were recently dropped off at animal control and FOAC resolved to get them out of the shelter and into foster homes. Unfortunately, the dogs were exposed to the parvo virus at the shelter, a life-threatening disease of unvaccinated dogs, and within a week the pups showed signs of becoming sick. mysierramountaintimes.com
