Many of the dogs are strays that people have brought it. If their owners dont claim them within five days, the dogs will be put up for adoption. The shelters also are packed with puppies.
The two county animal shelters, which were overwhelmed with cats earlier this month, are now beyond capacity in their dog kennels and Animal Services officials are having a tough time leashing in the crowds.

Dogs small enough to be held in one hand get their own class. Mutts get their own class. (Thats the one-of-a-kind class. ) And yes, purebreds get a class, too. But just one.

The group believed it would be allowed to operate without permits as long as it was a club, like a golf or tennis club. Eldred Township Solicitor Michael Kaspszyk said this is not the case, as private clubs are not given freedom to break township zoning rules.

The murder happened back in April in North Carolina. Roy "Bud" Melton was found shot to death execution-style on his property, which police say was the site of another dog fighting operation that has ties to Michael Vicks "Bad Newz Kennels".
This week, Boynton Beach police arrested three men on charges that they ran a dogfighting ring known as Camp 8 Kennels. The operation featured the usual sad trappings: a bloody ring that the men allegedly used to stage fights, medical supplies to treat injured dogs, a treadmill of the type used to condition fighting dogs and an electrical device that police said may have been used to torture the animals.
And, of course, there were the 15 dogs. And, of course, all of them were pit bulls. According to investigators, the dogs bore the sort of scars that come from fighting. The dogs probably will be euthanized, since they would be too dangerous around other animals.

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, represented by Mayor Jim Newberry, issued a Proclamation naming Responsible Dog Ownership Day. Councilwoman at Large for Lexington Fayette Urban County Government Mrs. Linda Gorton was on hand at the show to present the Proclamation to the Lexington Kennel Club.
