Two weeks ago, my daughter Johanna, her assistance dog, Taffy, and I were invited to participate in a Canine Companion for Independence demonstration for a local school at Build a Bear on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. The event focused on the release of Build a Bears new black Lab puppy in honor of a CCI assistance dog named Mercer. For every black Lab puppy that Build a Bear sells this month, the company will donate a dollar to CCI. The fundraiser and another demonstration will be highlighted on Fox and Friends on .
