My name is Vanessa Garza. I am one of the owners of the chihuaha that was killed by the 3 pitbulls. I witnessed the 3 pitbulls mangle and rip my dog to shreds. The condition that my dog was left in was too gruesome to show pictures of. How can you say I am not a dog-lover I loved her so much. and to see her suffer and die the way she did is painful. I know that it is not all of the dogs fault, but if you had dogs that are that dangerous why would you keep them in city limits surrounded by their next victims. This time it was my dog,but it could have just as easily been a child. one of your children. This is why we started this petition,to keep dangerous dogs away from harming or even killing our children. Our neighborhood is so terrified of these dogs and now after they put two to sleep he bought two more so now they still have 4.

2007-03-31 Dog owners question shooting

I live outside the city limits, where there is no leash law. The number of people who let their dogs run loose out here is astounding. Seeing 2-3 dogs together is not an uncommon. The owners dont care if their pets are killed by a car, and dont care if anyone is threatened by their dogs. Forget about going for a jog or a walk, unless you dont mind running into one of these animals. One dog in particular keeps roaming into our yard. My husband *nicely* asked the dogs owner, our neighbor across the street, if he could keep his dog away from our yard, and his response was "get off my property, you f***ing punk. " So, we have no recourse, other than shooting the dog if he comes into our yard, which of course we dont want to do. Its so aggravating.

2007-09-24 The Breeze - Opinion

The scuffle began after Duke Dog refused a handshake from the Chanticleer and proceeded to swat at the Chanticleer once its back was turned. Duke Dog and the Chanticleer rolled on the ground until a police officer pulled them apart. Eventually the two were separated, but the Duke Dog followed the rooster. When he was approached by a police officer, he shoved him. Duke Dog was consequently escorted out of the stadium. About an hour later, Duke Dog reappeared, but a different person was clearly wearing the mascot outfit. After running around the stadium to high-five everyone, Duke Dog walked up to the Coastal Carolina football team and gave them the bird (no pun intended). He too was escorted out of the stadium, this time holding his hands behind his back as if he was getting cuffed. We do not know for sure whether Duke Dog was

When I meet a new dog, I dont make eye contact at all. The dog lover part of me wants to give them affection, but Im willing to postpone that to establish what kind of a "dog" I am. And that means that Im going to portray dominance and leadership by ignoring him. A dominant dog showing up at his house would act the same way. Hed ignore the resident, sending the message that "Im in your space cause I feel like it, and, oh, by the way, I outrank you. " After a minute, my new acquaintance understands from my energy that Im no threat, but also that Im a leader and outrank him.

2007-09-08 Welcome to The Conway Daily Sun

WHO LET THE DOGS OUT: In addition to Mud Bowl, this weekend marks the 65th annual Carroll County Kennel Club Dog Show, otherwise known by Dorothy Lindblade and Lloyd Jones as the Westminster of the Woods. The event is set for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9 at Hussey Field in North Conway. Lloyd says 720 dogs will be shown on Saturday and 763 on Sunday. Included in the showings will be Jacksons own Bozo Gravink, a Bernese mountain dog owned by Shirley and Phil Gravink. It will be Bozos first show, notes Lloyd, who along with wife Lynn Jones will be showing their Bernese dogs, Molly (better known as Molly No as she never stops doing the wrong things, Lloyd quips from across the newsroom here at The Sun).

While those who hear the case will be picked today, exactly what they will hear will not be determined until Friday, when Fiedler holds the second of two hearings on whether the state can present evidence of cadaver sniffing dogs and where they "alerted" to finding scents of decomposing human remains. Although the state has other circumstantial evidence prosecutors contend can be interpreted as showing Zapata killed his wife, the three dogs used in the second investigation are clearly the heart of the case against Zapata.
