Topwater lures are incredibly effective for fishing the mullet run. Most effective are the "walk-the-dog" lures such as the Zara Spook and Top Dog series. It takes a bit of practice, but soon twitching and reeling to impart the flip flop retrieve that brings life to these lures becomes so much fun, it distracts the angler from the intended purpose.
For saltwater enthusiasts, there is nothing quite as exciting as seeing acres of shiny baitfish moving from their inshore nurseries to spend time in the ocean, eventually migrating to warmer waters as colder weather arrives. While most fish swim, anglers will tell you that these fish "run. "

2007-09-27 Napa Valley Register Let the balloons land at Alston Park
I share that park with runners, birders, hikers, picnickers and walkers of leashed dogs. Other than the well-understood problem of parking near the dog run, this publicly-shared facility works very well indeed. I have never been present at Alston Park during a balloon landing, though, to be fair, I am not usually there when the balloons are active.
It is in the nature of balloons that they have very little directional control, so they have to land as best they can, in the judgment of the pilot. What with wires, trees and some property owners who violently object to balloon landings, finding a safe, legal and welcome landing site can sometimes be a problem. An open park, such as Alston, can be a safe location for landing, and can offer easy and quick access for the recovery crew, certainly better than my lower yard, even though they are welcome there. It seems to me that a balloon landing is unusual and kind of a fun thing and it is a very minor annoyance at a place like Alston Park, where I am sure that the Alston dogs and other hikers would also find it interesting.
