2008-09-21 Libraries, an oasis especially in tough times - St. Petersburg TimesIf youve been to Crescent Lake or North Shore parks, where we have to go now, you know there is a need for more parks that have a place for dogs to run free. The sod has had to be replaced at North Shore, and Crescent Lakes can become a sand pit. There is a need to relieve some of the overuse at those parks. Yes, this "people park" will cost more than other dog parks. Thats because it is being created as a brand-new park. Instead of just fencing off a small portion of an existing park, the city will be creating a whole new park needing lighting, parking, fencing, benches, irrigation, signs, etc. One cannot really compare the two. www.tampabay.com

During the discussion with Unerwood over prospects for a dog park, Hecimovich warned, Older residents of the area may not be as tolerant for the dog park as younger residents would be.
