I wonder if the core perception of this well-thought-out commentary is correct If one believes Alston is a "dog park", that implies it is for dogs and they have the "right of way" so-to-speak. I believe Alston Park was created for everyone to use And there are special places for dogs. So it is multi-purpose. According to the City of Napa web site dogs are allowed (under specific conditions) at Alston, Shurtleff, Kennedy and Century Parks. I dont see any park named as a "dog park". My understanding is that Alston Park welcomes dogs in specific locations and under specific conditions. Perhaps it is time to revisit the rules of Alston Park. My suggestion is that it be done from the perspective of being a park for everyone, not simply dogs. " www.napavalleyregister.com
Nor did anyone show up to complain about the proposed agreement under which Dog Parks Inc. and unaffiliated members will have access to and stewardship over roughly 11 acres of fenced area, including 5. 5 acres of open space, the rest in woodlands. The memorandum of agreement between the county and Dog Parks Inc. encourages dog park users to join the dog lovers organization for a "small fee. " Dog Parks Inc. will in turn "use these funds and other monies raised for the Howe Farm off-leash dog area for improvements at the off-leash dog area" (less small administrative costs). Brian Lyman, capital projects manager for Kitsap County Parks and Recreation, believes "improvements" refers to maintaining dog watering stations and containers for disposing of dog waste. blogs.kitsapsun.com
FYI- the off-leash dog park was not funded using tax payers money. Very generous donations and the hard work of volunteers made this park a reality. I am assuming you have never been out there. The number of people out at Thornberry Off Leash Dog Park on a sunny Saturday afternoon is probably equal to the number of people using City Park, or Mercer Park, or any other public park in town. The amazing thing is the number of people who are out there on a Saturday afternoon in January, when the temperature is 10 degrees above zero and the wind is whipping at 25 miles per hour. I know there are more people who use the dog park almost every day of the year than any other park in the Iowa City/Coralville area. Believe it or not, there are even people who dont own dogs who visit the off-leash dog park. This park serves a need that www.press-citizen.com

Tj it is open to all residents. The park is huge only less than two acres, that were previously fenced off, are set aside for the dog park and even then, anyone can go inside those two acres. Nobody is asking you (or the town) to pay anything, never have, never will. As for dogs not paying any taxes, yes they do. What do you call the fee for a dog licence That is a tax. The town does not spend any additional moneies on the operation of the dog park. You seem to think that because the ConCom voted to allow the court case to continue, they are so how admitting to being wrong. that is not the case. The ConCom never wanted to go to court over this issue, but the lawsuit was brought so the ConCom defended. It was only after any deadline for the current park to close was removed, did the ConCom agree to the extention. And if any www.thesunchronicle.com

Doing so will also require some resolution to the issue of handicapped parking and access for the dog park. Camarda reported on conversations she had had with Paul Lynch, attorney for developer Ted Moore, who owns the land abutting the dog park. According to Camarda, Lynch said that Moore would be unlikely to allow the use of a handicapped parking spot on his property, due to liability issues. She added that Lynch promised to research whether Moore had conducted any surveys of the dog parks rear lot line during the approvals process for the Marblehead Highlands condominium project. Moore and R. O. M. P. had already arrived at a mutually beneficial arrangement, whereby clean fill was removed from the Highlands site and delivered to the dog park. It is a fact that well-exercised dogs are better neighbors. Animals that get proper exercise and socialization are less likely to act aggressively to other animals and people, and less likely to bark excessively. The American Kennel Club, the Dog Whisperer, the county, MHS, most dog owners and many dog-less residents agree: Dog parks provide a safe venue where dogs can exercise and socialize safely. Dog parks prevent off-leash animals from infringing on the rights of others in the community while making it easier for the county to enforce its leash laws, as dog owners with park access have no reason to allow their canine companions off-leash when outside of the park. Currently, Maui and rsquo;s only off-leash park is Kilohana Dog Park in Wailea. www.mauiweekly.com

As its first project, the foundation has decided to help develop a dog park at Keizer Rapids Park. When the master planning process was happening, those of us attending the forums found out there are many dog lovers in our community who feel there is no place in our city provided to run their dogs. They shared stories with us of traveling long distances to find such parks. When Keizer Rapids Park was formed these pet lovers came in force to planning sessions to ask that a dog park be included in this regional park. These canine advocates have been persistent and vocal and a dog park is in the plan and is one of the first features to be developed in KRP. The city has plans with community help to do the fencing but this alone will not make a dog park. This is where we hope the foundation and you can come in. It is unbelievable that the dog park issue is still so misunderstood. I dont think any dog owner is asking for 5 acres of dog park. How about throwing up a fenced in area to let dogs run off the leash that covers about . 5 acres. That is all anyone is hoping for, and that would keep the rest of the park free of the waste left by the minority of irresponsible dog owners that do not clean up after their pets. Communal dog parks also help to educate those dog owners that are less responsible about their obligation to clean up after their pets. The town council is trying to go by the book here for modern community development. That says "green space" and "business development. " What they are failing to understand is that the two dont necessarily go hand in hand. Responsible community development takes www.charleston.net

Ultimately, committee members agreed that creating a basic dog park by enclosing the archery range site with a four feet high chain link fence with in and out gates might be a temporary solution to addressing repeated requests from Oak Park residents for a dog park. An interim dog park, they agreed, would give local park district officials the opportunity to monitor the numbers of people who use it and where they come from, as well as seeing how responsible dog owners are about cleaning up after their pets and keeping their dogs on leashes as they walk from the parking lot to the dog park. www.venturacountystar.com
Most of the funds for this would come from left over grant money already designated for parks as well and would include funds raised by FOLA, which by the way is not a dog club. There actually are many benefits to all, including non-dog owners. If your neighbor has a place to take their dog and let it loose they the dog is more likely to sleep instead of bark all night. It also creates a venue where dogs can be socialized which also makes for better dogs in your neighborhood. This would give seniors, disabled people. a place to exercise there dogs that currently doesnt exist. With more people using Gerhart we are more likely to see crime and vandalism reduced in the park. With an off leash park it would be much easier for the city to implement leash laws which would greatly benefit non-dog owners. One really needs www.tdn.com
