The rottweiler dog thats the flicks defacto villain is just awesome. The animatronic dog stuff is, for a low budget B-movie, almost seamless. It helps that the flick uses the whole "rottweilers are scary and mean and naturally vicious animals" thing to full effect (if the flick used a golden retriever it just wouldnt have the same oomph to it). I just wish there was a better, more streamlined story for the dog to appear in. Whats so wrong with a movie about a killer super dog with metal teeth attacking and eating people It worked out pretty well for "Mans Best Friend," one of the greatest killer super dog movies starring Lance Henriksen ever made. www.411mania.com
Underdog (PG, 82 min. ) A Krypto-like super-beagle (voiced by Jason Lee instead of Wally Cox) is the star of this live-action Disney family film, adapted from the witty 1964 cartoon series. However, despite the clever casting of Peter Dinklage as villain Simon Bar Sinister, this isnt really an update of the old TV show but a kiddie canine revamp of "Spider-Man" in which a down-on-his-luck Everydog learns that with great power comes great responsibility after hes splashed with an experimental DNA serum. Unfortunately, this "Underdog" is an underachiever thats unlikely to appeal to anyone other than undemanding tots, thanks to an unimaginative family sitcom premise that links the heroic hound with a dog-needing teen (Alex Neuberger) and a blue-collar father (Jim Belushi). www.commercialappeal.com
Capsule descriptions and mini reviews by The Commercial Appeal movie writer John Beifuss.
The little they did share in common was a desire to go back to their homes, an appreciation for girls and beer, and a passion for mountain biking. They were randomly assigned to one another as sniper and spotter in sniper school, and it did not take long for them to determine that the other would not be, in the civilian world, a friend, or even, quite possibly, someone the other would acknowledge hanging out outside the Piggly Wiggly or at a frat kegger. In fact, it wasnt until the second week of scout/sniper school, during an eight mile movement to learn stalking and tracking, along a narrow foot trail, that T-Dog whispered "this heres some sweet singletrack, baby. " Jimmys ears perked up and when it was reasonable to do so - as the chief warrant officer leading the stalk had moved ahead several yards - he whispered back to T-Dog. www.dirtragmag.com

I cant belive what i am reading. It makes me sick. Movies like Dark Knight is what going to the movies makes it all worth it. People who did not like this movie are they type that sit in Starbucks all day trying to think of lame movies which are like watching paint peel off the wall. I got to the movies to be wowed, i want to be shocked, i want to be scared by a morbid bad guy. It whats makes me want to see a movie again. This is Batman, it is the best movie of the year, this is a franchise that will be with us, our children and your childrens children and so on. Face it many more Batmans movie will follow and hopfully they will get better and better. Dont see this movie if your expecting a complicated plot with twists like No Counrty For Old Men, which to me was worse than not taking a shower for two months. latimesblogs.latimes.com

Edison is credited with helping to create the rudiments of cinematic grammar with his early short films, but they were created not to tell stories but to demonstrate the cameras, sound recorders and other equipment he was inventing. Like Edison, Lucas has used his movies more as software to demonstrate or advertise his visual effects, sound, game, TV and animation businesses. Lucas founded the visual effects company Industrial Light and Magic in 1975 in order to create effects for his upcoming "Star Wars" movie. Not only did ILM create dazzling and revolutionary computerized imagery for that movie, but "Star Wars" served as a nifty demo for a company that quickly became a major effects provider for non-Lucas films. The sense of loneliness and solitude is portrayed with great skill and gusto by Will Smith. As Robert Neville, Smith has to create a character that has to be completely self-contained. With only his faithful dog Sam to talk to and having witnessed every he knows and love die or become infected, Neville is forever the optimist as he waits at the docks every day at midday for anyone who might have heard his broadcasted message and painstakingly looks for a cure. This is a role for a talented actor and there is no argument that Will Smith is definitely in that category because it takes real skill to be the complete focus of a movie and the only character that the audience can connect with. While he is no stranger to playing heroic parts in his blockbuster movies, this is the part that shows that there is much more to Will Smith than www.realmovienews.com

Oh, I remember what I really loved about Cornell, was Cornell Cinema. Its an incredible program. I think that was one of the more memorable parts of my Cornell experience in part because it is what I pursued. I pursued a career in film. I think when people often talk about how when they were a child they were captivated by movies for me that happened at Cornell from the wide variety of things and the venues were. They have so many different kinds of movies. I was taken by them. I would try and go several times a week, often three or four times a week and I would see movies from all over the world and I didnt have that opportunity growing up and it was all right there on campus so I think that was in some ways in terms of my film education that was a huge contribution to it. cornellsun.com
